{A humongous 2.6 tonne creature burst out of the fishing net...........

The fishermen quickly realiZed it was a basking shark – also recorded as the second largest fish in the world.

Museum Victoria will gain unlimited knowledge and findings from studying the shark.
It will also help with conservation efforts and biological research.

“These animals have been sighted live over the years in Victoria,” said the museum’s senior collection manager of vertebrate zoology Dianne Bray.
“As they do not need to breathe air like whales and dolphins, they are not so commonly seen at the surface. We have no idea of what their numbers may be.”}
